Ferran Torres says Barcelona team-mate Pedri is the one person he could not take to PSG

Ferran Torres says leaving Barcelona for Paris Saint-Germain has brought a difficult adjustment, with moving house and settling into a new country among the biggest challenges of his summer transfer.

The Spain forward has made an impressive start in Paris, scoring seven goals in six appearances for Luis Enrique’s side. Torres describes the manager as “my father in football”.

“It is difficult. One day you are here and the next you are packing your bags to leave,” Torres said in an interview reported by Mundo Deportivo.

Asked which person from Barcelona he missed most, Torres joked: “The only one I cannot bring with me is Pedri.”

Torres has begun French lessons as he adapts to life in the French capital, although he admitted that the early stages have not been easy. He has found familiar faces at Paris Saint-Germain in fellow Spaniards Fabian Ruiz and Drew Fernandez, as well as members of the coaching staff.

The forward was also asked about the Ballon d’Or race but declined to name a preferred winner.

“Let whoever deserves to win it win it. It does not depend on me,” said Torres.

The World Cup final goalscorer added: “If a Spaniard wins it, that would be better for me.”

The 30-player shortlist for the Ballon d’Or includes six Spanish players: Lamine Yamal, Pau Cubarsi, Marc Cucurella, Rodri, Fabian Ruiz and Ferran Torres.

Torres has started three matches for Paris Saint-Germain so far. He began his scoring run with a brace against Rennes, followed by a hat-trick against Slovan Bratislava. He has also scored against Brest and Olympique de Marseille.

In the French clasico against Marseille, Torres started on the substitutes’ bench before coming on to score the opening goal. Paris Saint-Germain went on to win 2-1.

Paris Saint-Germain are sixth in Ligue 1, with eight points from two wins, two draws and one defeat.
