Ferran Torres matches Ibrahimovic’s Paris start after six-goal burst

Ferran Torres has equalled Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s record for goals in his first five appearances for Paris Saint-Germain after scoring the winner against Brest in Ligue 1.

Paris Saint-Germain secured a 1-0 victory in the fourth round of the French league, with Torres producing the decisive moment in a match where the home side endured a difficult test against Brest.

According to Sport, the goal took Torres to six in five matches since joining Paris Saint-Germain this summer from Barcelona. His early return has placed him alongside Ibrahimovic, who also scored six times in his first five games for the club.

Torres has started the season with confidence after playing a key role in Spain’s 2026 World Cup triumph. His move to the French capital has so far been followed by a series of important contributions in both domestic and European competition.

On his Paris Saint-Germain debut, Torres rescued a point against Rennes by scoring twice. He then made an immediate impact in his first Champions League appearance, finding the net three times to claim the first hat-trick of his career in the competition.

His latest goal came on Sunday against Brest. Torres struck with an impressive finish to give Paris Saint-Germain their first Ligue 1 win of the campaign, despite the team being made to work hard throughout the game.

His start in France also compares favourably with that of Neymar. The Brazilian scored five goals in his first five matches for Paris Saint-Germain, leaving Torres one goal ahead of him at the same stage.

The six-goal return has strengthened the early impression that Paris Saint-Germain’s decision to sign Torres could prove a sound investment. The club paid 48.5m euros to bring him from Barcelona, while the Spanish side also received a substantial return from his departure.

Torres’s performances have therefore given Paris Saint-Germain an immediate attacking boost, while placing the Spain international among the club’s most productive recent arrivals during their opening five-match periods.
