Ferran Torres gives green light for Barcelona to negotiate Paris Saint-Germain move

Ferran Torres is close to leaving Barcelona for Paris Saint-Germain after agreeing personal terms with the French club, according to L’Equipe.

Negotiations are now under way between Paris Saint-Germain and Barcelona over a potential transfer for the Spain forward. Torres gave Barcelona permission on Friday to discuss the move after reaching an agreement with the Paris club over his contract and personal conditions.

Talks are understood to be at an advanced stage, although no final agreement has yet been reached between the two clubs.

L’Equipe reports that the transfer could cost Paris Saint-Germain €50m. The French champions are also working to complete the deal before Torres is due to return to full team training next Wednesday.

Torres’ possible move comes after an important season for both club and country.

The forward helped Spain win the 2026 World Cup, scoring the winning goal in the 106th minute of extra time in the final. That strike took his international record to 25 goals in 65 appearances for La Roja.

At club level, Torres finished last season as Barcelona’s leading scorer, having found the net 16 times. His goals contributed to Barcelona winning La Liga for a second successive season after a title race with Real Madrid.

Barcelona also retained the Spanish Super Cup, defeating Real Madrid 3-2 in the final. It was Torres’ second consecutive Spanish Super Cup triumph.

The 2026-27 La Liga campaign is scheduled to begin with Barcelona away to Elche at the Manuel Martinez Valero. The Catalan club will therefore have to resolve Torres’ future before preparing for their opening fixture of the new season.

For Paris Saint-Germain, the proposed signing would add a forward who has recently been influential for both Barcelona and Spain. However, the deal remains subject to an agreement between the clubs, despite the progress made in discussions and the player’s reported approval of the move.

Torres joined Barcelona’s senior set-up after establishing himself as an international forward and has now become a regular goalscorer for Spain. His performances last season, including his contribution to Barcelona’s domestic success and Spain’s World Cup victory, have increased the significance of any decision over his future.

The French club’s priority is now to conclude negotiations with Barcelona before Torres returns to collective training on Wednesday. Until an agreement is reached, he remains a Barcelona player and the transfer to Paris Saint-Germain has not been completed.
