Fernando Da Cruz agrees two-year deal as new Kaizer Chiefs head coach
Kaizer Chiefs have reached an agreement with French coach Fernando Da Cruz to become the club’s new head coach ahead of the upcoming season.
Da Cruz has signed a two-year contract with the South African giants, with an option to extend his stay for an additional season as the club looks to rebuild and return to competing for major honours.
The appointment signals a new direction for Amakhosi, who are seeking stability and improved performances following a period of inconsistency and growing pressure to reclaim their status among the continent’s elite clubs.
The experienced French tactician is set to arrive with a four-man backroom staff, underlining the club’s commitment to establishing a strong technical structure to support the new project.
In addition to the foreign contingent, Kaizer Chiefs are also expected to incorporate between two and three South African coaches into Da Cruz’s technical team.
The move is seen as an effort to blend international expertise with local knowledge and experience within the club’s coaching setup.
Da Cruz brings considerable experience to the role, having previously managed French side Lille OSC and Moroccan powerhouse AS FAR.
His coaching résumé and exposure to different football environments are expected to play a key role as Chiefs seek to mount a stronger challenge in domestic and continental competitions.
The club is expected to provide further details regarding Da Cruz’s arrival and the composition of his full technical team in the coming days.
