Ferland Mendy is not planning to pack his bags anytime soon.

Despite circulating rumours and rising interest from clubs in France and the Premier League, the French defender is staying put at Real Madrid.

At 30, Mendy still has two years left on his contract and recently extended his stay, news quietly confirmed by coach Carlo Ancelotti, although no official club announcement has followed.

According to Mundo Deportivo, Mendy is unfazed by the transfer noise and has no intention of leaving this summer. His stance comes just as Real Madrid prepare to add fresh legs to the left side of defence, with 22-year-old Alvaro Carreras on the verge of joining from Benfica.

Carreras will compete with Fran Garcia, already in the squad, creating stiff competition in a position Mendy has long made his own.

Xabi Alonso, who is tipped to become Madrid’s next head coach, may soon have a selection dilemma. But for now, Mendy’s focus is steady, he wants to keep fighting for his place at one of the world’s biggest clubs.
