Fenerbahçe target Morocco star Brahim Díaz ahead of winter window
Turkish giants Fenerbahçe are preparing a move for Moroccan international Brahim Díaz during the upcoming January transfer window, with the Real Madrid forward emerging as a priority target to strengthen their attack.
According to Italian journalist Nicolò Righe, Fenerbahçe are expected to open contacts over a potential deal towards the end of October as they explore the possibility of convincing Díaz to make the switch to Istanbul.
The Turkish club is reportedly encouraged by the Moroccan’s limited playing time at Real Madrid since the beginning of the season and hopes that the situation could persuade him to consider a new challenge away from the Santiago Bernabéu.
Fenerbahçe are also expected to use a familiar face in their efforts to convince Díaz. The club could seek the assistance of Turkish international Arda Güler, who is currently Díaz’s teammate at Real Madrid and previously starred for Fenerbahçe, to help sell the idea of a move to the Turkish Super Lig.
However, any January transfer will depend on several factors, including Real Madrid’s position and the plans of manager José Mourinho.
The Spanish giants have yet to make a definitive decision on whether Díaz would be allowed to leave midway through the season, while reports in Spain suggest that the club remains interested in extending his contract, which currently runs until June 2027.
Fenerbahçe are looking to add more firepower to their attack after Kerem Aktürkoğlu and Oğuz Aydın reportedly failed to meet expectations, prompting Mourinho to request another attacking option.
Díaz has consequently emerged as one of the club’s leading targets, although Fenerbahçe would need to present an offer capable of convincing both the player and Real Madrid.
The 27-year-old is currently valued at around €35 million by Transfermarkt and has made more than 160 official appearances for Real Madrid since returning to the club from AC Milan, scoring around 20 goals.
A potential move to Turkey would therefore represent a major decision for Díaz, particularly with his future at Real Madrid still tied to Mourinho’s plans and the club’s desire to retain him beyond his current contract.
