Fenerbahce eye summer move for top Morocco goalkeeper Yassine Bounou
Fenerbahce are reportedly weighing up a move for Moroccan international goalkeeper Yassine Bounou in the current summer transfer window.
The Istanbul-based club have identified Bounou as one of the leading candidates to reinforce their goalkeeping department ahead of the new season.
The Turkish giants are planning for life after Brazilian goalkeeper Ederson, who is said to considering a new challenge. Several European clubs have been linked with the experienced shot-stopper, with Juventus among the teams reportedly monitoring his situation.
However, Fenerbahçe have already begun assessing potential replacements and have included the Moroccan international on a shortlist of goalkeepers capable of filling the role.
Bounou’s reputation has continued to soar following a series of outstanding performances for both club and country. Since joining Al Hilal SFC, the experienced goalkeeper has established himself as one of the Saudi Pro League’s standout performers, while also maintaining his status as Morocco’s undisputed first-choice goalkeeper.
His stock rose even further during the 2026 FIFA World Cup, where he once again delivered a string of impressive displays that reinforced his standing among the world’s elite goalkeepers. His commanding presence, exceptional reflexes, composure under pressure and ability to produce decisive saves made him one of the tournament’s most highly-rated players.
Any attempt to sign the Moroccan goalkeeper would also be far from straightforward. Bounou remains under contract with Al-Hilal until the summer of 2027, meaning Fenerbahçe would have to negotiate a transfer fee with the Saudi club before any deal could materialise.
Al-Hilal have not issued any official statement regarding the goalkeeper’s future, and the club is believed to value the veteran shot-stopper highly following his consistent performances since arriving in Saudi Arabia.
Bounou continues to attract interest from clubs across Europe and beyond thanks to the wealth of experience he has accumulated throughout his career. Before his move to Saudi Arabia, the 35-year-old enjoyed a highly successful spell with Sevilla FC, where he established himself as one of La Liga’s finest goalkeepers and won major honours.
At international level, he has become one of the greatest goalkeepers in Moroccan football history, playing a pivotal role in the Atlas Lions’ success on the global stage and earning widespread admiration for his leadership and consistency.
Despite being linked with a move to Fenerbahçe, no formal offer or negotiations have been confirmed, leaving his immediate future firmly in the hands of Al-Hilal as the summer transfer window progresses.
