Turkish giants Fenerbahce eye Morocco winger Chemsdine Talbi ahead of January window

Turkish giants Fenerbahce are reportedly monitoring Morocco international Chemsdine Talbi as they consider a move for the Sunderland winger during the January transfer window.

According to Turkish outlet Turkish Football, Fenerbahce are assessing the 21-year-old’s situation in England ahead of a possible mid-season approach.

Manager İsmail Kartal is reportedly keen to strengthen his attacking options on the flanks by adding pace, directness and technical quality to his squad.

Talbi has attracted attention from clubs across Europe following a series of impressive performances for Sunderland.

The Moroccan primarily operates on the right wing but is also capable of playing across the forward line, giving him tactical flexibility in attack.

Fenerbahce reportedly view those qualities as a good match for Kartal’s preferred approach, which places emphasis on quick passing under pressure and an intense attacking tempo.

With injuries and tactical changes affecting the club’s options in wide areas, Fenerbahce are considering Talbi as a potential addition who could contribute immediately.

Sunderland reluctant to sell Talbi

A January move would not be straightforward, however, with Sunderland understood to regard Talbi as an important part of their long-term plans.

The English club are therefore expected to demand a significant fee before considering the possibility of allowing the Morocco international to leave midway through the season.

Talbi is valued at around €25 million and has a contract with Sunderland until June 2030, making any potential deal a substantial financial commitment for Fenerbahce.

The Turkish club are reportedly preparing an opening offer as they look to strengthen their squad across all competitions.

With pressure from domestic rivals Galatasaray and Beşiktaş also influencing Fenerbahce’s transfer plans, the club could step up their pursuit of Talbi when the January window opens.
