Fenerbahçe consider summer exit for Moroccan striker Youssef En-Nesyri despite strong season

Fenerbahçe are reportedly preparing to part ways with Moroccan forward Youssef En-Nesyri at the end of the season, despite his impressive contributions since arriving from Sevilla last summer.

According to Turkish outlet Sabah, the 26-year-old striker has been placed on the club’s transfer list, signalling a potential early exit from Istanbul just one season into a long-term deal.

En-Nesyri, who signed for €19.5 million ahead of the current campaign, has registered 26 goals and 7 assists in 48 appearances across all competitions—a tally that ranks among the most productive in the squad.

However, a recent goal drought—failing to find the net in his last seven matches—appears to have altered the club’s stance. The dry spell, combined with Fenerbahçe’s fading title hopes and an eight-point gap behind league leaders Galatasaray, has reportedly prompted the club’s hierarchy to rethink their attacking strategy.

Fenerbahçe’s management are now seeking a transfer fee in the region of €25 million, a figure they believe is achievable, particularly given ongoing interest from Saudi Arabian clubs.

The lucrative nature of that market, coupled with En-Nesyri’s €4.5 million annual salary, makes the prospect of a sale increasingly attractive to the club’s board.

The Moroccan international, whose contract with Fenerbahçe runs until 2029, arrived with high expectations after a successful stint in La Liga, where he became known for his aerial prowess, pace, and consistent goal scoring.

For much of the current season, En-Nesyri lived up to that reputation, emerging as a key figure in Fenerbahçe’s attack and contributing heavily to their domestic and European campaigns.

Yet despite his output, sources suggest that the club are eager to refresh their forward line and see the summer transfer window as a prime opportunity to reinvest.

While there is no official confirmation from Fenerbahçe, internal discussions are believed to be underway regarding potential replacements and tactical reshaping.

The situation places En-Nesyri in a delicate position—valued for his goals, but seen as expendable in the context of broader strategic shifts. If a suitable offer materialises, particularly from the Middle East, the club may act swiftly to finalise his departure in order to fund incoming transfers ahead of next season.

En-Nesyri’s potential exit adds to a growing list of key decisions facing Fenerbahçe in the coming months, with pressure mounting to close the gap on Galatasaray and restore their position at the summit of Turkish football.

The final matches of the season could now serve as an unofficial farewell for the striker, whose time in Istanbul may be drawing to a close sooner than expected.

Whether his recent form proves a temporary blip or a sign of decline, the club’s willingness to sell suggests that performance alone may not be enough to secure his long-term future at Şükrü Saracoğlu Stadium.
