Fenerbahce claim biggest Turkish league win with 8-0 thrashing of Eyupspor

Fenerbahce recorded the biggest victory in their history in the Turkish league by beating Eyupspor 8-0 in the sixth round of the competition.

Mason Greenwood scored twice, while Vedat Muriqi netted four goals. Matteo Guendouzi and Irfan Can Kahveci were also on the scoresheet as Fenerbahce produced a dominant display.

Greenwood opened the scoring from the penalty spot in the fourth minute before Muriqi doubled Fenerbahce’s advantage three minutes later.

Muriqi struck again in the 21st minute to put the visitors firmly in control, and Guendouzi added a fourth goal in the 38th minute.

Fenerbahce scored for a fifth time in the first minute of first-half stoppage time, with Irfan Can Kahveci finding the net.

Eyupspor manager Ozan Bulut responded at half-time by replacing goalkeeper Horatiu Moldovan after he had conceded five goals. Emre Bilgin came on in his place.

The change did little to alter the course of the match. Muriqi completed his hat-trick in the 47th minute and then scored again to make it 7-0, taking his personal tally to four goals.

Greenwood completed Fenerbahce’s scoring in the 80th minute, sealing an eight-goal victory.

The result means Fenerbahce now have the strongest attack in the Turkish league, with 16 goals from their opening six matches.

Fenerbahce moved on to 10 points and sit fifth in the league table. Eyupspor remain on three points in 17th place, immediately above the bottom position.
