Atlético Madrid open talks over Nigerian forward Ademola Lookman transfer

Turkish giants Fenerbahce have entered the race to sign Atalanta winger Ademola Lookman, intensifying competition with their city rivals Galatasaray.

The Istanbul clubs are both keen on bringing the Nigerian international to the Turkish Super Lig, hoping to secure a deal in the upcoming transfer window.

Reports indicate Galatasaray are currently leading the pursuit, but other big names, including Tottenham Hotspur and Atletico Madrid, are also following Lookman’s situation. The 2025 January window could see heightened interest after Atalanta retained the winger last summer, turning down offers from Inter Milan.

Fenerbahce reportedly attempted a late move for Lookman after the Italian transfer window had closed, but Atalanta rejected their proposal. Galatasaray, meanwhile, hopes a connection with Lookman’s Nigerian teammate Victor Osimhen might help sway the winger to their side, though no official bid has been made yet.

Lookman’s current contract with Atalanta runs until 2027, leaving the Italian club in a strong negotiating position. As the transfer window approaches, both Fenerbahce and Galatasaray are expected to intensify their campaigns to lure the talented Nigerian attacker to Istanbul
