Fenerbahçe and Beşiktaş set to battle for Romelu Lukaku amid Napoli uncertainty
Fenerbahçe and Beşiktaş are eyeing a surprise move for Belgian international of DR Congo descent Romelu Lukaku ahead of the new campaign.
Lukaku’s future at Napoli remains uncertain, with the Italian football powerhouse said to be open to parting ways with the attacker this summer.
As per reports, the Turkish heavyweights have already expressed interest in the 33-year-old forward, as they look to strengthen their attacking options with a proven European goalscorer.
Napoli are reportedly willing to sanction Lukaku’s departure for a fee in the region of €10 million, despite the striker still being under contract until June 2027.
The former Chelsea and Manchester United forward earns around €8 million annually in Italy, making him one of the club’s highest-paid players.
The situation is said to have become more complicated following a reported recent disagreement between Lukaku and Napoli’s hierarchy, which has further increased the likelihood of an exit.
Lukaku’s stint in Naples has so far fallen short of expectations. Last season, he made just seven appearances in all competitions, scoring one goal, a return well below his usual standards. His market value is currently estimated at €6 million, according to Transfermarkt.
With Turkish clubs known for ambitious transfer moves in recent years, both Fenerbahçe and Beşiktaş could be ready to test Napoli’s resolve as they consider a bold bid for the experienced striker.
If a deal materializes, it would represent one of the most high-profile transfers in the Turkish Super Lig this window and offer Lukaku a fresh opportunity to revive his career in a new environment.
