Femi Seriki: Sassuolo linked with Sheffield United defender

Femi Seriki, the English-Nigerian Sheffield United right-back, has been linked with a move to Italian club Sassuolo.

The 24-year-old is the subject of reported transfer interest from the Serie A side, although no agreement has been confirmed. Seriki’s contract at Sheffield United runs until 30 June 2027.

Seriki has made 74 Championship appearances, scoring once and providing seven assists. He joined Sheffield United’s senior squad from the club’s under-21 side in July 2023 and spent part of the 2023-24 season on loan at Rotherham.

The defender began his career with Bury’s under-18s before moving to Sheffield United in September 2019. He has also had loan spells with Beerschot, Boston United and Rochdale during his development.

Seriki was born in Manchester and is eligible to represent both England and Nigeria. His listed position is right-back and he is reported to be valued at €5m.

Sassuolo’s interest comes with Seriki still tied to Sheffield United for another year beyond the current campaign, meaning any potential move would involve negotiations with the Championship club rather than a free transfer. For now, Seriki remains a Sheffield United player under contract until June 2027.
