Felix Uduokhai targets first Union Berlin minutes at Leverkusen

Felix Uduokhai could make his first competitive appearance for Union Berlin when the club travel to Bayer Leverkusen in Saturday’s Bundesliga fixture.

The centre-back was an unused substitute throughout Union’s opening match against Eintracht Frankfurt but is now fully fit and ready to challenge for minutes.

Head coach Mauro Lustrinelli has been encouraged by the new signing’s work during the week, praising both his readiness and the influence he has already brought to the group. “He has trained well this week. He is very ready and has brought us a lot of personality, including recently from the bench,” Lustrinelli said.

The Union manager believes Uduokhai’s experience can be particularly valuable for younger defenders. “It is important to have a player like that to help our young players at the back, with his experience and personality,” he added.

Uduokhai offers a credible alternative to Zeno van den Bosch on the left side of Union’s central defence. Whether Lustrinelli chooses to hand him an immediate start or keeps him among the substitutes remains unclear ahead of kick-off.

For Uduokhai, the trip to Leverkusen presents an opportunity to begin his Union Berlin journey and establish himself in the Bundesliga squad.
