Felix Afena-Gyan: Ghana winger joins Igdir FK from Cremonese
Ghanaian winger Felix Afena-Gyan has joined Turkish side Igdir FK from Italian club Cremonese. The 23-year-old left-sided attacker makes the switch to the 1.Lig after four years in Italy, where he first broke through at Roma before moving to Cremonese.
Afena-Gyan, who prefers to operate from the left wing and stands at 1.75m, links up with Igdir FK after spending last season back at Cremonese following a loan spell in Turkey with Amed SK. His move continues his career in Turkish football, this time in the country’s second tier.
Born in Sunyani on 19 January 2003, Afena-Gyan emerged in Europe with Roma’s youth set-up, initially arriving from EurAfrica FC. He progressed quickly through the ranks and was promoted from Roma’s U19 side to the first team in October 2021.
The forward’s performances in Rome led to a €6m transfer to Cremonese in August 2022, marking his first permanent move away from the Italian capital. While under contract with the Serie B club he gained further experience through loans, including spells with Juventus’ second team, Juve Next Gen, in 2024-25 and Amed SK in 2025-26.
Afena-Gyan already has silverware on his CV, having been part of the Roma squad that won the Europa Conference League in the 2021-22 season. His career trajectory has taken him from youth football in Ghana to European competition and now to a new chapter in Turkey’s 1.Lig.
The transfer was finalised on 24 July 2026, confirming Afena-Gyan as the latest attacking addition to Igdir FK’s squad.
