‘Feels good to be back’ – Dele Alli stays positive after red card on Como debut

Dele Alli has remained upbeat despite being sent off on his debut for Como in their 2-1 defeat against AC Milan on Sunday night in the Serie A.

The English midfielder of Nigerian descent received a red card in the second half for clipping the ankle of Milan’s Ruben Loftus-Cheek.

It was the former Tottenham midfielder’s first competitive match in two years, but Alli chose to focus on the positives.

On social media, he reflected on his return to the pitch. “Two years! Not necessarily how I planned it, but we keep moving,” he wrote. He added, “I was always going to announce my return in some way after these past two years. Would rather it had been with a goal, but it feels good to be back.”

After the match, Alli also shared a lighthearted exchange with Loftus-Cheek about the incident. “Pic looks bad tho, I just tried to clip your heel. When the ref went to VAR, I didn’t even know it was for me,” Alli messaged.

Loftus-Cheek responded, “Bro, I had no clue. I stayed down coz I was blowing.”

Despite the early setback, Alli appears determined to move forward and make an impact at Como.
