Good news for Pelé Mboyo and FC Sion fans: the Belgian striker of Congolese origin is nearing a return to competitive action. Since joining the Swiss side last summer, Mboyo has yet to make a single appearance in the Swiss Super League due to a stress fracture in his tibia. However, reports from Belgian media indicate that the striker is finally on the path to recovery.
“I hope to resume team training in Sion in three weeks. For the moment, I go out on the pitch three days a week and I can touch the ball again. It’s going well, but a new bone is forming and there’s still a bit of adaptation to do,” Mboyo told La Dernière Heure.
Reflecting on his rehabilitation, Mboyo highlighted the support he has received from the club: “At the beginning, there were some difficult moments, but the president of Sion understood my situation and wanted me to get full treatment. That’s also why I’m doing this in Belgium. When you’re at the club, there’s sometimes a bit of pressure to come back more quickly. That’s normal; I’m a player Sion really counts on. But the management knew they were buying an injured player.”
Despite the setbacks, Mboyo remains positive about his future. “I’m well-preserved and I feel good. I have a healthy lifestyle. I’ve only been unlucky for a year, but it’s going to stop and my career will resume. Sion is an ideal environment for me,” he added.
After a challenging period away from the pitch, Mboyo’s gradual recovery signals hope for both the player and the club as they look forward to his return in the coming weeks.
