Stéphane M’Bia Reflects on Future at Sevilla Amid Transfer Speculation

Stéphane M’Bia’s future remains uncertain as his loan spell at Sevilla FC draws to a close. The Cameroonian midfielder, currently on loan from Queens Park Rangers, has enjoyed a successful stint in Spain, but whether he will remain at the Andalusian club or return to England is yet to be decided. In a recent interview with Footmercato.net and Estadio Deportivo, M’Bia shared his thoughts on his time at Sevilla and his potential next move.

Since joining Sevilla, M’Bia has been thriving in La Liga, often praised for his physical presence and versatility in midfield. The 34-year-old admitted that he has settled in well, both on and off the pitch. “We have been very good in Europe so far and I feel very good in Seville. In La Liga too, in the best league in the world, very technical, but also tactical. I feel good in this team, in this city. The weather is fantastic and the team’s football is excellent,” he said, expressing his satisfaction with his current situation.

Despite his happiness in Seville, M’Bia remains unsure of his long-term future. “I’m very happy to have come, the club has given me a lot of confidence, and my family is very happy here too. My wife feels comfortable and, at the end of the season, we’ll see what happens,” he continued. “There is a possibility that I will stay, because my family is my priority. I don’t know what will happen, but I am happy here. The club has already spoken with me, almost every day. I repeat, I am happy in Seville. Until the season is over, I will not make a decision.”

M’Bia acknowledged the uncertainty surrounding his future, noting that his loan ends at the conclusion of the season. “We have to see how we finish the league and the outcome of the Europa League final. I have a good relationship with Monchi [Sevilla’s sporting director], he knows that I am happy here,” he added. With his loan deal expiring, the midfielder suggested that staying at Sevilla could be an option, but stressed that the final decision will depend on the team’s season finale and how things progress in European competition.

However, M’Bia’s ambitions extend beyond Sevilla, with the former Marseille player revealing that he is keeping his options open. “Playing in the Champions League is my goal,” he said, referencing the prestigious competition that remains a dream for many players. The midfielder also spoke about interest from other clubs, including Premier League giants Liverpool. “Liverpool? For me, it’s a source of pride. I’ve worked hard and now several clubs want to count on me. I’ve progressed and various agents have already approached me,” he explained. “For me, it’s delicate, but I have my lawyer who is managing all of this, and I will see with him what is best for my family and me. Liverpool is a great team that will play in the Champions League. Everton is also a great team, but I can’t say what will happen in the future.”

M’Bia’s career has experienced several changes since leaving Marseille, and the upcoming transfer window could provide another chapter in his career. Having regained prominence at Sevilla, the midfielder will have decisions to make regarding his next step—whether that involves continuing his journey in Spain, returning to England, or exploring other opportunities in Europe. With his impressive performances drawing attention, the summer transfer window is sure to be an exciting time for the versatile player.

As the season draws to a close, M’Bia’s future remains one of the most intriguing storylines in the transfer market, with many clubs likely keeping a close eye on the situation. Will he stay loyal to Sevilla, or will he take his talents elsewhere in pursuit of new challenges? Only time will tell.
