FC Schalke 04 rule out January sale of Malian forward Moussa Sylla
FC Schalke 04 have ruled out the possibility of selling Malian forward Moussa Sylla during the January transfer window, with the club determined to retain the attacker for the remainder of the season.
The decision was confirmed by Schalke sporting director Frank Baumann, who made it clear that Sylla is not for sale when speaking in an interview with Sport Bild. According to Baumann, both financial stability and the player’s mindset played a key role in the club’s stance.
“Firstly, because we don’t need the transfer fee in the winter. Secondly, I have the feeling that Moussa has no desire to change anything in the short term,” Baumann said.
He went on to explain that Sylla’s recent improvement in form mirrors Schalke’s overall progress, describing the striker’s renewed drive as “a completely different feeling than at the end of the season”.
Baumann also touched on other squad matters, reiterating the club’s satisfaction with goalkeeper Loris Karius and highly rated teenager Wallentowitz.
He added that discussions regarding the goalkeeper’s long-term future would be held at the appropriate time, as Schalke continue to plan ahead while maintaining stability within the squad.
