FC Porto Determined to Keep Yacine Brahimi Amid Growing Transfer Interest
After an outstanding debut season with FC Porto, Algerian international Yacine Brahimi has caught the attention of several top European clubs—but the Portuguese giants appear unwilling to let him go just yet.
According to Le Buteur, Porto’s management is adamant about retaining the winger for at least one more year, despite increasing interest from abroad. The club reportedly sees Brahimi as a central figure in their project moving forward and is keen to avoid further discontent among fans, many of whom are already frustrated by a second consecutive trophyless campaign.
Brahimi, 25, has enjoyed a remarkable rise since joining from Granada last summer. His pace, dribbling, and attacking flair have made him one of the standout performers in the Primeira Liga and a key figure in Porto’s Champions League campaign.
One of the most serious suitors appears to be Manchester City. The Premier League club’s sporting director is believed to have made early contact in a bid to lure the Algerian to England, amid a planned summer squad overhaul.
However, with a long-term contract in place and a hefty release clause reportedly set at €50 million, Porto remains in control of the player’s future. Unless an irresistible offer arrives—or Brahimi pushes for a move—the Dragons are likely to stand firm.
For now, Porto are determined to build their squad around the talented winger, hoping that with Brahimi still in their ranks, they can end their silverware drought next season.
