Trabzonspor Intensify Pursuit of Papy Djilobodji Amid Interest from Celta Vigo
Senegalese defender Papy Djilobodji is attracting significant attention as the summer transfer window nears its end. Turkish side Trabzonspor are reportedly stepping up their efforts to secure the services of the FC Nantes centre-back, submitting a second bid believed to exceed €2 million.
Despite the improved offer, the French club has yet to accept the proposal. Nantes are holding out for a slightly higher fee for the 27-year-old, who has one year remaining on his contract, which expires in June 2016.
Djilobodji has also drawn interest from La Liga outfit Celta Vigo. The Spanish club previously had a bid rejected by Nantes, underlining the defender’s growing appeal on the European market. However, Trabzonspor appear to be leading the race at this stage, as they aim to bolster their squad before the window closes.
With time running out and Djilobodji yet to sign an extension, Nantes face a decision: cash in now or risk losing the Senegalese international for free next summer.
