Gabon Cup 2015: FC Mounana Retain Title and Secure CAF Confederation Cup Spot
FC Mounana ended their season on a high note by clinching the 2015 Gabon Cup on Thursday, defeating second-division side AFJ Production FC 2-1 in the final. It marks Mounana’s second consecutive victory in the national cup competition.
Despite missing out on the league title earlier this season, the reigning cup holders showed resilience and experience, especially in the second half where all three goals were scored.
David Massamba opened the scoring in the 52nd minute, followed by Bassirou Ouedraogo just six minutes later to give Mounana a commanding lead. Kabou Defi pulled one back for AFJ Production in the 84th minute, but it wasn’t enough to deny Mounana their back-to-back triumph.
Thanks to this victory, FC Mounana will represent Gabon in the 2016 CAF Confederation Cup, while Mangasport, the national champions, will take part in the CAF Champions League.
