Spanish football powerhouse FC Barcelona has signed a sponsorship agreement with the Ministry of Tourism of the Democratic Republic of Congo (DR Congo) valued at over €40 million, aimed at promoting the Central African nation as a global travel destination.
As part of the multi-year deal, DR Congo’s tourism logo—branded as the “Heart of Africa”—will be prominently featured on the back of the training kits worn by both the men’s and women’s teams.
The branding will also appear in the club’s official magazine and annual reports.
According to Reuters, the partnership will bring in an annual revenue of between €10 million and €11.5 million over the next four seasons.
This move follows similar sponsorship announcements by DR Congo last month, involving Ligue 1 side AS Monaco and Serie A giants AC Milan.
While initial details were scarce, Reuters reports that those deals are worth €1.6 million and €14 million annually, respectively.
The initiative forms part of DR Congo’s broader effort to rebrand and attract global attention to its tourism potential through strategic partnerships in the world of elite football.
