Lionel Messi’s enduring relationship with FC Barcelona will continue, as the two parties have reached an agreement to extend his contract. After weeks of negotiations, the Argentine maestro’s contract will be updated to reflect his continued commitment to the club.
“FC Barcelona confirms that it has reached an agreement for the adjustment of the contract of first team player, Lionel Messi. The signing of this revision will be done in the coming days,” the Catalan club announced on Friday.
According to sources close to Barcelona, Messi’s contract will be extended by one year, keeping him at the club until 2019, and will include an increase in salary.
