AC Milan Faces Competition from Barcelona in Aymen Abdennour Pursuit
AC Milan’s pursuit of Aymen Abdennour, the highly sought-after Tunisian defender, is facing a new challenge as FC Barcelona enters the race. The Milanese club has been leading the charge for Abdennour, but with Barcelona now in the fray, the Serie A side risks being overtaken once again, much like they were in the Kondogbia transfer saga.
According to L’Equipe, Barcelona has made a move for the 26-year-old defender, who currently plays for AS Monaco. In a proactive step, the Catalan club has already met with Abdennour’s representatives in Barcelona. Despite being under a FIFA transfer ban, Barcelona is still able to secure deals for players, provided they agree to wait until the transfer ban is lifted. In Abdennour’s case, Barcelona could potentially buy him and loan him back to Monaco for the upcoming season, before welcoming him to the squad once their transfer restrictions are eased.
On the other hand, AC Milan, eager to strengthen their defence, is reportedly ready to offer 25 million euros to Monaco in a bid to secure Abdennour’s services. With the player’s value increasing amid heightened interest, Milan is keen to wrap up the deal quickly, but the presence of Barcelona’s interest complicates matters.
Both clubs are in the race for the Tunisian international, and it remains to be seen which club will ultimately prevail in securing Abdennour’s signature. For now, AC Milan holds a significant advantage, but with Barcelona’s continued presence in the transfer market, the battle for the defender is far from over.
