Farouk Shikalo: Kenya goalkeeper leaves Kidus Giorgis to become a free agent
Kenya goalkeeper Farouk Shikalo has left Ethiopian side Kidus Giorgis and is now a free agent after the expiry of his spell with the Premier League club. The 29-year-old, who was born in Bureti and stands at 1.85m, departs with an estimated market value of around €100,000.
Shikalo, a right-footed goalkeeper, joined Kidus Giorgis from Kenyan club KCB Nairobi in October 2025 and has now officially come off their books. His new status leaves him available to sign for a new side without a transfer fee.
Before his move to Ethiopia, Shikalo had established himself across East African football, featuring for several Kenyan Premier League clubs. He moved to KCB Nairobi in January 2024 from Kakamega, having previously had a spell at Mtibwa Sugar following his switch from KMC FC in Tanzania in August 2022.
Earlier in his career, Shikalo enjoyed a notable stint with Tanzanian giants Young Africans, whom he joined on a free transfer from Bandari FC in July 2019. That move followed successive free transfers within Kenya, taking him from Posta Rangers to Bandari after an earlier spell at Muhoroni FC.
Shikalo’s professional journey began with Ushuru FC and FC Talanta before his step up to Tusker FC in 2014, from where he moved on to Muhoroni and then Posta Rangers. Having now left Kidus Giorgis, the experienced Kenyan goalkeeper is officially without a club and available for his next move.
