Fares Ghedjemis transfer: Monaco make fresh move as Besiktas offer stronger contract

AS Monaco have submitted a new offer for Fares Ghedjemis as they attempt to fend off competition from Besiktas for the Algeria winger.

The Principality club have held a strong interest in the player and are understood to be stepping up their efforts to complete a deal. Their latest proposal, reported by Santi Aouna, is intended to strengthen Monaco’s position in negotiations and underline the importance they attach to Ghedjemis.

The renewed approach confirms that Monaco regard the transfer as a priority. They do not appear willing to allow one of their leading targets to move elsewhere without a further challenge.

However, Besiktas have now entered negotiations and are believed to have made the player a more attractive offer in terms of contract conditions. The Turkish club’s proposal gives them a significant argument as they seek to persuade Ghedjemis to choose a move to Turkey.

Despite the financial appeal of Besiktas’s offer, Ghedjemis currently prefers Monaco’s sporting project. The player is giving priority to a move to the Ligue 1 club, whose plans appear to fit his expectations more closely.

Ghedjemis, who is described as a France international in the report, has not completely ruled out a transfer to Turkey. The situation therefore remains unresolved, with further developments possible over the coming days.

Monaco and Besiktas lead the race

The contest has narrowed considerably. Celtic and Rangers, who had shown interest in recent weeks, have decided to withdraw from the race.

That leaves Monaco and Besiktas as the principal contenders for the 24-year-old. Monaco’s new offer and the player’s preference for the club place them in a favourable position, but Besiktas’s improved contractual proposal means the Turkish side remain a serious threat.

The next stages of the negotiations could prove decisive for Ghedjemis’ future. Monaco will now look to turn the player’s preference into an agreement, while Besiktas will attempt to use the terms of their offer to change the balance of the deal.

Ghedjemis is under contract with Frosinone until June 2028. His market value is estimated at €7.5m by Transfermarkt.

Frosinone are due to begin their Serie A campaign against Juventus shortly. The published betting odds for that fixture list Frosinone at 6.20 to win, a draw at 4.15 and Juventus at 1.19. The transfer battle around Ghedjemis remains open, but the field has now been reduced to two leading candidates. Monaco have increased their offer and retain the winger’s preference, while Besiktas are attempting to compensate with a more favourable contract.
