FAR Rabat finalize preparations for CAF Champions League final clash against Mamelodi Sundowns
FAR Rabat have completed their preparations at the club’s training centre ahead of their highly anticipated CAF Champions League final first leg against Mamelodi Sundowns next Sunday in South Africa.
The Moroccan giants are set to travel to Johannesburg with a 50-member delegation led by club president General Boubker El Ayoubi, after the management organized a group dinner on Thursday evening aimed at boosting morale and strengthening unity within the squad before departure.
The Royal Army side are expected to hold their first training session in South Africa on Friday before conducting their official pre-match session on Saturday at Loftus Versfeld Stadium, which will host the first leg encounter.
Following the match, the Moroccan club will return directly to Rabat to continue preparations for the decisive second leg at Stade Moulay Abdellah.
Sources close to the club revealed that the atmosphere inside the AS FAR camp remains highly positive, with players fully motivated and determined to secure a favorable result away from home before returning to Morocco for the final showdown.
In terms of squad availability, all players are reportedly fit and ready for the encounter except Senegalese defender Fallou Mendy. Medical examinations confirmed that the defender still requires additional rest, ruling him out of the first leg, although he is expected to recover in time for the return fixture.
The first leg of the CAF Champions League final will take place next Sunday at Loftus Versfeld Stadium in Pretoria at 3:00 PM Moroccan time, while the return leg will be staged in Rabat at Stade Moulay Abdellah.
