Faïz Sulemani’s heroics seal Abha FC’s fate in Saudi Pro League finale

Faïz Sulemani's heroics seal Abha FC's fate in Saudi Pro League finale

Already relegated Al Hazem managed to secure a 2-1 victory over Abha FC, thanks in large part to the efforts of Faïz Sulemani. The Comorian striker’s decisive performance not only lifted his team’s spirits but also condemned Abha FC, coached by Pitso Mosimane, to relegation.

Despite Al Hazem’s relegation fate being sealed before the match, Sulemani played with determination and skill.

After returning from the locker room trailing 1-0, he ignited a comeback for his side.

In the 49th minute, Sulemani’s spirited play resulted in him setting up a crucial assist for his Gambian teammate Badamossi, who netted the equalizer in the 58th minute.

The momentum shift was palpable, and just minutes later, Al Hazem took the lead, with the final blow to Abha FC delivered through Sulemani’s relentless efforts.

Pitso Mosimane, the South African coach of Abha FC, experienced a painful conclusion to his tenure.

Having been appointed last February with the mission to stabilize the team, Mosimane faced an unprecedented setback in his illustrious career.

Despite his previous successes with clubs like Al Ahly SC and Mamelodi Sundowns, Mosimane could not prevent Abha FC’s slide into the relegation zone.

His brief four-month stint with the club ended in disappointment, marking the first relegation of his managerial career.

On the other hand, Faïz Sulemani ended the season on a high note, despite his team’s overall struggles. Sulemani’s statistics for the 2023-2024 season are impressive: nine goals and five assists in 28 appearances.

These achievements highlight his importance to Al Hazem and his potential value in the transfer market.

With his contract running until June 2025, Sulemani faces a crucial decision about his future—whether to continue with Al Hazem or seek opportunities elsewhere.

As the dust settles on a tumultuous season, both Al Hazem and Abha FC will look to regroup and rebuild.

For Sulemani, this performance serves as a testament to his resilience and skill, potentially opening doors for future endeavors.

Meanwhile, Mosimane will reflect on a challenging chapter, eager to return to winning ways in his next venture.
