Faiq Bolkiah: world’s richest footballer without a club after Ratchaburi exit

Faiq Bolkiah, regarded as the world’s richest footballer, is without a club after his contract with Thai League side Ratchaburi ended, according to a report published on Tuesday.

The 28-year-old did not join another club during the most recent summer transfer window and is now waiting for a new contract.

Bolkiah is a member of Brunei’s royal family and was born in the United States. He developed through the youth systems at Chelsea, Southampton and Leicester City before moving to Portugal to continue his career with Maritimo.

He has made six appearances for Brunei and captains his country.

His net worth is reported to exceed €18.698bn, largely because he is the nephew of the Sultan of Brunei. Bolkiah is the son of Prince Jefri Bolkiah.

He was born on 9 May 1998 in Los Angeles, California, and holds both Bruneian and American nationality. He was educated in the United Kingdom.

Bolkiah has a twin sister, Kiana, as well as at least 15 half-brothers and half-sisters on his father’s side. Despite his considerable family wealth, his playing career has left him searching for a new club following the end of his spell with Ratchaburi in the Thai League.
