FAF and Air Algérie sign three-year partnership to support national teams

The Algerian Football Federation (FAF) and Air Algérie have formalized a three-year partnership, aiming to streamline the transportation of national teams, officials confirmed on Thursday, 27 November 2025.

The agreement was signed on the sidelines of the draw ceremony for the 2025–2026 Algerian Cup.

The accord was finalized in the presence of key figures, including FAF President Walid Sadi, Sports Minister Walid Sadi, and Air Algérie CEO Hamza Benhamouda.

Also attending were Minister of the Interior, Local Authorities and Transport Saïd Sayoud, Communication Minister Zoheir Bouamama, Youth Minister Moustafa Hidaoui, and Kamel Sidi Saïd, Advisor to the President of the Republic in charge of the General Directorate of Communication.

While specific operational details have not been disclosed, sources indicate that the agreement will primarily focus on facilitating travel for Algeria’s national teams, particularly the senior A team as it prepares for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations and the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

The partnership aims to ensure efficient, cost-effective transport arrangements, which have historically represented a significant expenditure for the federation.

The collaboration between FAF and Air Algérie is not a new concept.

Similar agreements existed in previous years, but renewals were repeatedly postponed.

Recent efforts by public authorities have revived the initiative, underscoring the importance of reducing logistical costs for national teams while providing reliable travel arrangements.

This agreement reflects the commitment of both parties to support the development and performance of Algerian football, said FAF officials at the signing. It is designed to guarantee that our national selections travel safely and efficiently as they represent the country in major international competitions.

For Air Algérie, the partnership reinforces its role as the national flag carrier and official partner of Algerian sports.

By providing structured support for team transport, the airline strengthens its connection to high-profile national events while ensuring logistical continuity for teams competing both continentally and globally.

The three-year agreement is expected to cover all official team travel, including competitive fixtures, training camps, and international tournaments.

The arrangement is also seen as part of broader government efforts to optimize resources and promote efficiency in national sports administration.

With the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations and the 2026 World Cup approaching, this renewed partnership arrives at a critical moment, offering reassurance to players, officials, and fans that travel arrangements will be professionally managed and cost-effective.
