Fabio Balde has left Hamburger SV to join Racing Strasbourg in a deal reportedly worth €7 million.

The 21-year-old winger departs his hometown club after progressing through its academy and making 41 senior appearances.

Balde recorded three goals and four assists for Hamburg’s first team, although he never completed a full 90-minute match. Despite those limited opportunities, Strasbourg have invested heavily in the young attacker’s potential and ability to develop further in Ligue 1.

The transfer brings valuable funds to HSV, who can now reinvest in their squad. For Balde, it represents the first major move of his professional career and a chance to prove himself in one of Europe’s leading leagues.

“As a Hamburg boy, your great dream is to one day play at the Volksparkstadion and for HSV,” Balde said. “I am grateful and proud that I was able to fulfil that dream, and I would like to expressly thank everyone who accompanied and supported me on this path.”

Strasbourg will hope Balde’s pace, direct running and academy background help him settle quickly in France. His departure ends a meaningful chapter at HSV, but opens the door to a demanding new challenge with the ambitious French club.
