Fabinho arrives in Turkey ahead of expected Trabzonspor move

Fabinho has arrived in Turkey as he prepares to complete a free transfer to Trabzonspor, with the club expected to officially announce the signing of the former Al-Ittihad midfielder during the summer transfer window.

The Brazil international landed in Turkey on Monday morning to finalise the formalities of his move to the Turkish club. He is expected to sign his contract after Trabzonspor reached a preliminary agreement with the 32-year-old.

Trabzonspor shared footage of Fabinho’s journey to Turkey, with the midfielder seen wearing the club’s shirt.

According to Turkish broadcaster A Spor, Trabzonspor have opened formal negotiations with Fabinho and reached an initial agreement over the transfer. The deal is expected to be completed once the remaining contractual procedures have been concluded.

Fabinho became a free agent after his spell with Al-Ittihad ended. Last season, he made 44 appearances in all competitions, playing a total of 3,906 minutes. He scored three goals and provided four assists during that campaign.

The midfielder also represented Brazil at the 2026 World Cup, where he played in three matches.

If the transfer is completed as expected, Fabinho will reunite with Mohamed Salah at club level. The pair previously played together at Liverpool, where they were team-mates during the English club’s successful period in domestic and European football.

Their reunion would form part of Trabzonspor’s continuing efforts to strengthen their squad ahead of the rest of the new season. The club have already completed the signing of Mohamed Salah and are aiming to compete for domestic and continental honours.

Fabinho joined Liverpool from Monaco in 2018 and spent several seasons at the club alongside Salah before moving to Al-Ittihad. His expected arrival would give Trabzonspor further experience in midfield as they build a squad capable of challenging on multiple fronts.

The player’s move is dependent on the completion and signing of the final documents, after which Trabzonspor are expected to make the transfer official.
