Eyad El Askalany: Egypt left-back at Rostov linked with Pyramids FC return

Eyad El Askalany, the Egyptian left-back currently at Russian Premier Liga side Rostov, is being linked with a move to Pyramids FC in the Egyptian Premier League. The 21-year-old, who is under contract in Russia until 31 December 2028, has emerged as a potential target for the Cairo club as they look to strengthen their defensive options.

El Askalany, born in Ismailia and a left-footer by trade, joined Rostov from Ismaily in February 2024 for a reported fee of 920,000. His market value now stands at around 300,000, a figure that is likely to form a reference point in any negotiations between the clubs. A return to Egypt would mark a swift turnaround in his career path after less than two years in Russian football.

The defender has gained experience in both league and cup competitions since moving to Rostov, registering 10 Premier League appearances and one assist while accumulating further minutes in domestic cup ties. His exposure to a different tactical and physical environment in the Russian top flight is understood to be part of what has drawn Pyramids FC to explore a possible deal.

With more than two years left on his current agreement, Rostov are under no immediate pressure to sell, which may complicate any attempt to prise him away mid-contract. For now, El Askalany remains a Rostov player, tied to the club on a long-term deal that runs through the end of the 2028 calendar year.
