Exeter City bring back Kenyan-English midfielder Vincent Harper from Walsall

Kenyan-English midfielder Vincent Harper has returned to Exeter City from Walsall on a season-long loan, giving the League Two club back a player who previously represented them. The move was completed on 14 August 2026.

Harper, 25, operates on the left side of midfield and is left-footed. Born in Nairobi, he began his senior career with Bristol City Under-23s before gaining experience in a series of loan spells and permanent moves across the English game.

The midfielder first joined Bristol City’s development side from Bristol City’s academy in July 2019. During the 2019-20 season, he spent time on loan with Gloucester, Weston-super-Mare and Bath City before returning to Bristol City Under-23s.

Harper left Bristol City Under-23s for Chippenham in August 2021 on a free transfer and moved to Eastleigh later that season, also without a fee. Exeter signed him from Eastleigh in July 2023, marking his first spell with the club.

That stay lasted two seasons before Harper joined Walsall on a free transfer in July 2025. He has now switched back to Exeter, with the loan agreement running until 31 May 2027.

Harper’s return places him back at a club where he has already spent time before moving to Walsall. His career has so far taken him through academy football, loan spells and senior sides in the English leagues, with Exeter his latest destination.

He is listed as an Exeter City player for the 2026-27 campaign and will remain under the club’s agreement until the end of May 2027. Vincent Harper’s completed loan move from Walsall to Exeter City is effective from 14 August 2026.
