[Exclusive] Serge Gakpé to Atalanta Bergamo: Deal Done!

Serge Gakpé Joins Atalanta Bergamo on Loan from Genoa

After days of speculation, it is now official: Serge Gakpé has signed with Atalanta Bergamo this Friday, completing a move from Genoa. The Togolese international successfully passed his medical examination before putting pen to paper on his contract.

The 28-year-old winger has joined Atalanta on a six-month loan deal, which includes an option to buy. Genoa is expected to earn around €1.5 million immediately from the loan arrangement, with the potential to increase that total to €2 million if Atalanta exercises the purchase option at the end of the season. This move comes as part of Atalanta’s efforts to strengthen their attacking options in Serie A, where the club currently sits 12th in the table.

Gakpé, formerly of Nantes, will officially begin his stint with Atalanta during Monday’s training session, marking the start of his integration into Gian Piero Gasperini’s squad. Before joining the Bergamaschi, Gakpé will spend the weekend saying farewell to his teammates at Genoa, where he spent the first half of the season contributing three goals and two assists in 12 appearances.

This transfer marks the fifth professional club in Gakpé’s career. The Togolese forward began his professional journey with AS Monaco, before moving on to Nantes, Standard de Liège, and then Genoa. At each stop, he has developed a reputation for versatility, technical skill, and an eye for goal, traits that Atalanta hopes will boost their attacking depth.

The move to Atalanta is also significant for Gakpé personally, as it offers him the opportunity to reestablish himself in Serie A after a mixed spell at Genoa. With regular playing time expected under Gasperini, he aims to showcase his abilities and help his new club climb the Serie A standings.

Atalanta fans will be hoping that the Togolese winger can make an immediate impact. Known for his pace, dribbling, and vision on the field, Gakpé could provide the extra spark the team needs in the final stretch of the season. For Genoa, the deal represents a chance to recoup a portion of their investment while allowing the player to continue his career in a competitive European league.

With the loan now finalized, attention turns to Gakpé’s debut. The next few months will be crucial, both for the player looking to impress and for Atalanta seeking to improve their league position. The Togolese international is eager to make the most of this new chapter and to contribute meaningfully to his new team’s ambitions.
