Exclusive: Schalke 04 reject €5m bid for Adil Aouchiche
Algerian midfielder commits future to Schalke after club turns down interest from Championship side
Schalke 04 have rejected a reported €5 million offer for Adil Aouchiche and secured the Algerian midfielder’s future with a new contract running until 2030.
The German club had made it clear that Aouchiche was not available for transfer despite interest from the Welsh club, who compete in the English Championship.
Schalke’s sporting director had previously insisted that the Algeria international was part of the club’s plans, and that position has now been reinforced by the agreement over a new long-term contract.
The decision represents a significant show of faith in a player whose importance has increased since joining the club.
Schalke refuse to sell Aouchiche
The reported €5 million proposal was not enough to persuade Schalke to consider Aouchiche’s departure.
The club’s management remained determined to retain the former Paris Saint-Germain player and include him in its plans for the future. That stance ultimately resulted in the midfielder staying in Germany rather than pursuing a move elsewhere.
The new agreement keeps Aouchiche at Schalke until 2030 and provides further evidence of the club’s confidence in his ability.
It also brings an end to the uncertainty surrounding his future after he attracted interest during the summer.
Aouchiche’s rise at Schalke
Aouchiche joined Schalke during the second half of last season after spells with several clubs in France and abroad.
The midfielder developed in Paris Saint-Germain’s academy before moving on to Saint-Étienne and later Sunderland. His career then took a positive turn following his arrival in Germany.
His performances for Schalke played an important part in the club’s promotion to the Bundesliga, helping the team return to the German top flight.
The Algerian’s influence in midfield convinced the club that he could play an important role in its next chapter.
His contract extension until 2030 is therefore both a reward for his progress and a clear indication of the responsibility Schalke expect him to assume.
Bundesliga return awaits
Aouchiche has already begun the new campaign with Schalke, featuring in the German Cup as he builds up his competitive rhythm.
Attention now turns to the club’s return to the Bundesliga, with Schalke preparing to face Augsburg on Sunday.
Aouchiche could make his first appearance in Germany’s top division as Schalke begin their campaign at the highest level.
The match would represent another significant stage in the 23-year-old’s career after his progress helped Schalke secure promotion.
With his future now settled, the midfielder can focus on establishing himself in the Bundesliga.
Long-term commitment from Schalke
The decision to retain Aouchiche comes after a period in which his future had been the subject of transfer speculation.
Rather than accept the reported offer, Schalke have chosen to keep the midfielder and extend their commitment to him.
The new contract also reportedly comes with an improved salary, adding to the significance of the agreement for the Algerian international.
After moving through clubs in France, England and Germany, Aouchiche now has the opportunity to build greater stability at Schalke.
His immediate challenge will be to maintain the form that helped the club return to the Bundesliga and justify the confidence placed in him.
For Schalke, retaining Aouchiche is an important part of preparing for life back in the top flight, while for the midfielder it marks the beginning of a new chapter with his long-term future secured.
