Portuguese coach Jose Gomez, the frontrunner for the Zamalek managerial position, landed in Egypt on Tuesday morning for negotiations with the club’s administration regarding his potential role as the team’s head coach.
Gomez is now on the verge of taking charge of the team, and the signing of the contracts will proceed if the negotiations unfold smoothly.
The formal signing is expected today or at the latest tomorrow, depending on the progress of discussions and the board’s satisfaction.
The management had sent the contracts to the head coach via email for review, but Gomez has yet to sign them.
The official signing is set to take place at Zamalek Club.
Accompanying the Portuguese coach are an assistant coach, a fitness planner, and a goalkeeper coach.
Gomez’s monthly salary is set at $65,000.
The club’s board is considering the continuation of Ahmed Magdi’s role within the new coaching staff or seeking another name.
The status of Mu’tamad Jamal remains unclear, as he has expressed reluctance to work with a foreign coach.
Additionally, the club is contemplating expressing gratitude to Mohamed Abdel-Moneim, the goalkeeper coach, due to the presence of a foreign goalkeeper coach in Gomez’s staff, subject to final agreement.
