Africasoccer brings you an exclusive interview with Giulio D’Alessandro, the agent of rising Sierra Leone U20 star Momoh Ibrahim Kamara.

In this exclusive interview, get to know Kamara after his outstanding performance for Sierra Leone’s U20 national team at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Egypt and the next step for the attacker after showing himself to the world at the big stage.

On the Player’s Development & Background

  1. Can you tell us a bit about Momoh’s journey? How did he get started, and when did you begin working with him?

I started to work with him when we worked on a development project for a Nigerian Academy. We decided to invest to bring them in Italy to play the Viareggio Cup, one of the most important tournament in the world of football for academies. In the past players like Totti, Baggio, Xavi, Iniesta, Batistuta, Lukaku and many others played this tournament. I lived together with these boys almost three weeks, our coaches even two month, having been in Nigeria as well. Momoh Kamara, together with another very great talent called Alieson Kamara, they were the only two not Nigerian players of the team.

  1. What qualities stood out to you early on that made you believe he had the potential to play at this level?

He has an impressive first touch. He is able to control the ball in many different situations, even in the hardest when you think he will not be able to do it. Then he has very powerful legs, strong muscles in the lower part of the body that allows him in be strong in the challenges, difficult to overcome and mostly gives him an excellent explosiveness. He has vision and quality in the passing, ability in the shooting and a very good dribbling. But mostly his decision, he sees football as a mature nr.10, he makes the right choices. All this together makes him a wonderful player that we believe is actually one of the brightest talent from African Continent.

On the U20 AFCON Performance. Likely to win the Golden Boot award with his four goals.

  1. Momoh’s hat-trick against Egypt has turned a lot of heads. What does this performance mean for his career at this stage?

Many people can be surprised of that performance, we are not. He already showed all his qualities in the African Cup Qualifier Tournament, where he was called because of our suggestion to the Youth Coordinator of the National Team, as he had left already almost three years before Sierra Leone and was a bit out of the radars. In that competition he drove his National Team to an historical qualification to the African Cup of Nations. He scored the goal of the tournament – a wonderful solo goal against Liberia, even better then the last one scored against Egypt and won the Golden Ball, after having been named man of the match in almost three matches on 5. Then he also made the debut with Senior National Team in March, playing the Qualification to the World Cup match against Guinea and Egypt. He made a wonderful assist against Guinea, after having dribbled two opponents on the right side. Now he is doing what he is doing in the African Cup. We are happy for him, he really deserves all this credit he is receiving. Finally everyone is knowing his talent.

  1. How has his success at the U20 AFCON impacted his visibility or reputation among scouts and clubs?

These kind of tournaments are very important to increase visibility of a player and can be a life changer moment. I remember players like Osimhen, Nwabali and Chukwueze during 2015 U17 African Cup and World Cup, Arouna Ouattara from Burkina Faso in 2023, in other continents as well in the Concacaf and in the Asian Cup, these tournaments are among the best to follow for scouts and clubs. But you can’t approach it just thinking about your visibility. Football is a team sport and the key is to build a very strong team spirit, as Sierra Leone is having now. In this way the success of the team bring value to the whole group of individuals. We are very happy about that as we represent many players of Sierra Leone and all of them are doing very well to try to reach an historical qualification to the World Cup.

On Interest & Market Value

  1. Are you already receiving inquiries from clubs after his standout performance in Egypt?

We are receiving every day, an average of ten clubs calling us to get information concerning Momoh.

  1. What type of club or league would be the ideal next step for him, considering his style of play and development path?

Actually he is moving to MLS, he will join Minnesota United. Then his talent will bring him in Europe in one of the Top 5 leagues.

On Professionalism & Character

  1. Beyond his talent, what can you say about Momoh’s personality, discipline, and attitude off the pitch?

Nice boy, very gentle and humble. He knows how to enter in a new environment. Everyone likes him as he is a very friendly and quiet character. Once he is confident in a place he starts to show the leader marks, that’s a natural switch he makes thanks to his quality talent and the level of the credit he earned with his performances. He doesn’t have distractions, he lives for football, he is very dedicated and for sure he has everything on this side to help his talent to succeed.

  1. How has he handled the pressure and attention that comes with being a top scorer in a major tournament?

He is playing and enjoying. He is living this experience together with his teammates and he is not focused on himself. This approach helps in handle the pressure and focus on the team goals. Everything is happening very naturally and that’s the key.

On Future Plans

  1. What’s the long-term plan for Momoh’s career? Are there goals set for the next two or three years?

He will continue to work hard to become everyday a better player and we will work as hard as him to be able to build his way through the thousands of difficulties the world of football can bring.
