The friendly match between Equatorial Guinea and Togo, initially scheduled for Tuesday, is taking place today. Sapol Mani, the midfielder for the Togo national team, shared his thoughts from the Ibis hotel in Bata, answering questions before heading to the stadium. He also received birthday wishes.
When asked about Equatorial Guinea being a good test before facing Cameroon, Mani mentioned that while he personally doesn’t know the team well, some of his teammates do. The primary focus for them is not the opponent but to find their rhythm after a few days of vacation since the end of their respective championships. He acknowledged that it’s a good test but suggested that the timing could have been better, and playing on the weekend would have allowed for better recovery.
Regarding the organizational hassles and potential fatigue affecting the team for the Cameroon match, Mani expressed agreement that it could be a challenge. However, they are trying to manage the fatigue, and the coach emphasizes the importance of managing it to be ready for the Cameroon match.
Despite the group not being complete for the Equatorial Guinea match, Mani doesn’t see it as a handicap. He believes in the team’s compactness, and everyone will assess their physical condition from the next day onwards.
