Hervé Piza, the vice-president of the Togolese Football Federation, acknowledged the technical fault of fielding an ineligible player and apologized to the Togolese public. Alaixys Romao, who had received two yellow cards during the matches of the 1st day of the 2014 World Cup qualifiers against Libya in Lomé and the 3rd day against Cameroon in Yaoundé, was fielded on June 9 against Cameroon in Lomé during the match of the 4th day. FIFA is investigating the matter, and Togo could face sanctions such as a withdrawal of points or a fine.
