The Togo Coaches Association has reason to celebrate as their advocacy for the recruitment of a local coach seems to have made an impact. Two weeks ago, the association called for the consideration of local talent, and now, according to recent developments, two Togolese coaches have made it to the shortlist of five candidates for the position of the new coach of Togo.
The Joint Technical Committee tasked with evaluating the applications has completed the first phase of its work and presented its findings to the Minister of Sports and Leisure. Out of the thirty applicants, five names have been selected, including two Togolese technicians. One confirmed inclusion is Tchakala Tchanilé, a former assistant coach.
The other Togolese candidate believed to be on the shortlist is Jean-Paul Abalo, a former Togolese international residing in France. Although not officially confirmed, sources suggest that Abalo is favored by some members of the Committee despite his relatively young coaching experience.
As the selection process progresses, the Togolese football community awaits the final decision with anticipation.
