Ghana international Michael Baidoo has officially signed with English club Plymouth Argyle in a landmark transfer.
The announcement came on Friday, January 3, as the 25-year-old midfielder penned a long-term deal that will keep him at the club until the summer of 2028.
“Argyle can announce Michael Baidoo has signed on a permanent deal that sees him head to Home Park for a record transfer fee. Baidoo has signed a long-term contract to the summer of 2028, and his transfer sees Argyle beat the fee paid for Morgan Whittaker and Bali Mumba in the summer of 2023,” Plymouth Argyle confirmed.
Baidoo joins from Swedish side IF Elfsborg, where he has been a standout performer since 2022, playing a crucial role in their Europa League campaign this season. His career journey has also seen stints at Sandnes Ulf in Norway, FC Midtjylland in Denmark, and loan spells with Jerv and Fredericia.
A versatile player, Baidoo excels in midfield but is also capable of contributing as a striker. At Plymouth Argyle, he is expected to bring dynamic play and creativity to the squad.
The Ghanaian star will don the number 30 jersey for the Pilgrims. His debut is subject to EFL approval and international clearance, with hopes that he will be available for selection for Plymouth’s January 11 fixture against Brentford.
Baidoo’s arrival represents a bold statement by Plymouth Argyle, highlighting the club’s ambitions to strengthen its squad and compete at the highest levels.
