Former South Africa international Jabu Mahlangu has recommended struggling Mamelodi Sundowns midfielder Sphelele Mkhulise for Kaizer Chiefs as the summer transfer window approaches.
Kaizer Chiefs have been inconsistent this campaign and are expected to bolster their squad for the new season. Currently occupying eighth on the Premier League standings, Kaizer Chiefs only success is reaching the semi-finals of the national cup.
And it appears Jabu Mahlangu has found the missing link for Kaizer Chiefs heading into the summer window, recommending Sphelele Mkhulise as the ideal player to stabilize their performance.
The 29-year-old midfielder is currently struggling for playing time at Sundowns this season, making only 13 appearances in the Premier League. In the last ten matches, the midfielder has only appeared on the field three times.
“I really like this player. I feel he could perform better,” Jabu Mahlangu said in a comment to kickoff.com.
“He joined Sundowns in the 2018/19 season. He played 103 matches, scored six goals, and provided four assists. His best season was the next one, where he played 22 matches, scored four goals, and provided one assist. In the CAF Champions League, he played 35 matches, scored four goals, and provided one assist.
I think since 2018 he should have played more games. Sundowns have a lot of quality, but I like him.
Maybe he can go to help at Kaizer Chiefs, because things are not going well there. With his experience from the Champions League and trophy-winning experience,” he concluded.
Meanwhile, Sphelele Mkhulise will become a free agent at the end of the season as his contract runs out in June.
