Everton weigh Tim Iroegbunam decision as Hull City step up interest

Hull City have moved to the front of the race for Everton midfielder Tim Iroegbunam after making a formal offer worth more than £15m (£17.5m), according to TEAMtalk.

The Tigers are understood to have accelerated their interest in the 23-year-old, with formal negotiations now taking place between the two clubs. Hull City have been monitoring Iroegbunam for several weeks and are believed to be the strongest contenders to secure his signature.

The proposal leaves Everton facing an important decision over the future of the England Under-? midfielder of Nigerian heritage. Everton are reportedly prepared to listen to offers for Iroegbunam, who has yet to establish himself as a regular starter under manager David Moyes.

Hull City see the player as a potential addition to their midfield and are keen to take advantage of his uncertain position at Goodison Park. Iroegbunam came through the academy at West Bromwich Albion before moving into senior football, and a transfer could offer him the chance to take on greater responsibility and secure more regular playing time.

For Everton, the deal could also make financial sense. Iroegbunam joined the club from Aston Villa in 2024 for about €10.7m. With the player approaching the final year of his contract, a sale worth more than €17.5m would give the Toffees a significant profit on their original investment.

Iroegbunam is contracted to Everton until 30 June 2027, with a further year available as an option. His current market value is estimated at €18m.

Everton must now decide whether to retain the Birmingham-born midfielder as they continue reshaping their squad or accept Hull City’s offer and allow him to leave during the summer transfer window. The Tigers’ proposal is above his estimated market value, although the final decision will depend on the terms agreed by the two clubs and Everton’s assessment of their midfield options.

A move to Hull City would provide Iroegbunam with an opportunity to play a more prominent role. At Everton, however, he would remain part of Moyes’ plans unless the club chooses to take advantage of the interest now being shown in him.
