Everton weigh move for Leipzig right-back Ridle Baku

Ridle Baku, a defender of German and DR Congo nationality at Leipzig, is being linked with a move to Everton in the Premier League.

The 28-year-old right-back has a contract with the Bundesliga club until 30 June 2027, but the rumour surrounding a possible switch to England is currently rated at 56%. There has been no confirmation that an agreement has been reached between the clubs or with the player.

Baku joined Leipzig from Wolfsburg on 10 January 2025 in a deal reported at €4.5m. His current market value is listed at €12m, giving the transfer speculation a notable financial context with almost a year remaining on his contract beyond the current season.

The Mainz-born defender has made 248 Bundesliga appearances, scoring 24 goals and providing 26 assists. He previously spent more than six years with Mainz before moving to Wolfsburg in 2020.

Baku also won the European Under-21 Championship with Germany in 2021, having earlier claimed the German Under-17 Bundesliga title with Mainz. His senior club career has remained entirely within Germany, with Leipzig his third Bundesliga side.

For now, Baku remains a Leipzig player, with his existing contract set to run until June 2027.
