Steven Pienaar Ruled Out for Everton’s Clash with Chelsea; Lukaku Set to Return
Everton will be without midfielder Steven Pienaar for their upcoming Premier League fixture against Chelsea on Saturday. The former South African international picked up an injury during last weekend’s 2-2 draw with Arsenal and is expected to be sidelined for some time.
Manager Roberto Martinez confirmed the setback at a press conference on Tuesday, stating, “It will take a little time before he comes back.”
In more positive news for Everton, striker Romelu Lukaku, who also suffered an injury in the Arsenal match, appears close to making a return. Martinez expressed cautious optimism about Lukaku’s availability, saying, “I’m reasonably optimistic.”
The Blues will be hoping to see Lukaku back in action to boost their attacking options as they prepare to face the Premier League leaders.
