Idrissa Gana Gueye has been the heartbeat of Everton’s midfield this season, proving his worth once again in his second spell at the club.
The 35-year-old, who returned after three years at PSG, has played a key role under David Moyes following Sean Dyche’s exit.
With his contract set to expire in the summer, Everton are eager to secure his services for another year, and there’s hope the feeling is mutual.
“This is my sixth season at Everton,” Gueye told reporters. “This club means so much to me because it has given me everything. It gave me the opportunity to play at a high level, it gave me friends, the relationship I have with these great supporters. I just love this club.
“I think everybody knows but when I left for PSG, I still thought about Everton a lot. Now I’m back here and I’m just trying to do everything in my power to help the team in the best way and make us better.
“It just means a lot to me.”
Idrissa Gana Gueye has played 24 games and assisted two in the Premier League this season.
