Everton and Crystal Palace target Morocco’s Othmane Maamma
Watford may be preparing for life outside the Premier League spotlight next season, but one of their brightest young talents could still find himself competing at the top level.
According to a report from French outlet L’Équipe, 20-year-old forward Othmane Maamma is attracting serious attention from several clubs across Europe, with Everton and Crystal Palace both making enquiries.
Premier League Interest Intensifies
Maamma, who featured regularly for Watford in the EFL Championship last season, is now firmly on the radar of Premier League sides. Everton and Crystal Palace are reportedly monitoring the Morocco youth international closely as they look to strengthen their attacking options ahead of the new campaign.
The interest from England’s top flight highlights the growing reputation of the young forward, who has been steadily developing since breaking into Watford’s senior setup.
Benfica and Ligue 1 Clubs Join the Race
The competition for Maamma’s signature is not limited to England. Portuguese giants Benfica have also entered the race, alongside an unnamed Ligue 1 club, adding further complexity to the transfer situation.
The player had previously attracted attention from Lille OSC during the winter transfer window, but a move did not materialise at the time, allowing Watford to retain his services for the remainder of the season.
Watford Bracing for Summer Decision
Maamma remains under contract with Watford until 2029, placing the Championship club in a strong negotiating position. However, with increasing interest from multiple European sides, a summer departure now appears highly likely.
After making 25 appearances last season, contributing four goals and one assist, the forward’s development has clearly not gone unnoticed, and Watford may soon face a tough decision regarding his long-term future.
