Everton have set their sights on Carney Chukwuemeka as they scramble for midfield reinforcements before the transfer window closes.

With Orel Mangala sidelined for the season due to an ACL injury, the Toffees are keen to bolster their options and see the Chelsea youngster as a viable solution.

Initially, Everton pursued Strasbourg’s Habib Diarra, holding talks with the Ligue 1 club for weeks. However, after failing to reach an agreement, they have shifted their focus to Chukwuemeka, who has struggled for game time at Stamford Bridge.

The former Aston Villa prospect has yet to make a Premier League appearance this season, featuring only in the Carabao Cup and UEFA Conference League. While Chelsea have not made their stance on his future clear, Everton are hopeful of securing a deal.

It remains to be seen whether the 21-year-old midfielder would be open to a move to Merseyside, but with limited opportunities at Chelsea, a fresh start could be on the cards.
